Indira D. Sattan; CHRL

President

Indira D. Sattan is a Certified Human Resources Leader with 35+ years of volunteer experience and the founder of SHAKTI Association.  Indira’s volunteer management experience includes the launch and day-to-day management as President of SHAKTI; 6 years of service as a Secretary/Public Relations Officer for a non-profit organization and 5 years of service as a Board member for a non-profit Co-operative Housing Program (progressive positions of Director, Vice-President and President).  Indira is currently employed as a Branch Manager for one of the fastest growing Financial Institutions in Ontario.  Her previous employment experience includes Business Owner; Business Advisor; Human Resources Director. Her progressive career in the service industry and desire to help others has allowed her the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge in business operations, management, coaching/mentoring, team building and event planning.  Indira strongly believe in the values and principles of paying it forward; personal mantra is to “aim each day to make a positive difference in the lives I touch”

Darren Nekram

Marketing Director

Darren Nekram sits on the Board as Marketing Director of SHAKTI Association.  He is currently a Business Advisor for one of the top oil and Gas Company in Canada.  Mr. Nekram is a professional with more than 14 years of broad-based experience and hands-on skills in the cost-effective management of critical business projects, large-scale call center operations, and high-level customer sales and service strategies.  Excellent business communications, project management capabilities, organizational and interpersonal skills.  In addition to SHAKTI Association, Mr Nekram also participates in and dedicates his time to numerous events with United Way.  As the Marketing Director of SHAKTI Association, he is responsible for all communication, website maintenance, and the creation of our current marketing campaigns during special events throughout the year.  He has a prolific social media presence and can utilize the many different social media platforms to reach out to as many people as possible.

Maya Sabharwal

Director

Maya Sabharwal is a lawyer with over 10 years of practice in Ontario, with a wide range of experience in various areas of law.  Ms. Sabharwal is in-house counsel for a Not-for-Profit organization in Toronto, she practices primarily in Administrative Law, Professional Discipline and Quasi-criminal law.  Ms. Sabharwal sits on the Board of SHAKTI Association as Director and Adviser on fundraising programs, grant applications and implementation of community programs to help disadvantaged people.

Anne Kishtamma

Treasurer

Anne Kishtamma has volunteered with non-profit organizations for over 10 years. She sits on the board of SHAKTI Association as Treasurer.  Anne has 25+ years of experience in accounting. Her latest role was in a processing plant where she served as the Controller. Over the years Anne has worked in various industries offering her expertise to the community newspaper and numerous accounting firms including her own. As Treasurer the responsibilities she holds are all aspects of accounting, including preparation of financial statements, tax returns and related schedules for Auditors.

Robert Singh

Director

Robert Singh sits on the board of SHAKTI Association.  Mr. Singh is a risk management professional with over 20 years’ experience across a wide ranges of public and private sector organizations supporting numerous business, channels and jurisdictions.  He is currently a risk management leader in the public sector. 


Mr. Singh’s role on the board is in an advisory capacity to try and identify public/private programs that provide funding and/or fundraising opportunities to support SHAKTI Association and its programs to greater meet the needs of the vulnerable communities that the charity serves.

Tamesh Sattan

Programs Coordinator

Tamesh Sattan holds the position of Programs Coordinator and is responsible for conducting the administrative duties associated with all program coordination and management of the organization.  Tamesh’s education consists a Post Graduate Certificate in Not-for-Profit and Volunteer Management from Ryerson University; Professional Chef training at Niagara College, as well as being selected by the Government to participate in the first ever Culinary Management Cook Apprenticeship Hybrid Program.  Tamesh has 14 years of demonstrated culinary experience, 2 of which are at the management level, including experience at a CAA 4 Diamond restaurant; 20 years of volunteer experience with catering initiatives, food preparation, meal planning; event planning; youth mentoring; networking and administrative skills that ensure programs are conducted within funding parameters and government guidelines.
