SHAKTI is a non-profit charitable community organization which grew from a Hindu organization in Rexdale. We wanted to expand our reach to help people of all backgrounds and especially those from vulnerable neighbourhoods in Toronto. Our aim to provide a leg up to children, new immigrants, unemployed people, the elderly and other groups by providing them with resources to become productive and independent.
MISSION
Sharing Hope and Kindness Through Involvement
VISION
To help disadvantage people of all ages and backgrounds have the tools to overcome their circumstances and realize their potential
PURPOSE
In times of difficulty, a village comes together to support its most vulnerable members. SHAKTI is a charitable organization located in the neighbourhood of Rexdale.
Our aim is to bring much needed assistance to children, the unemployed and the elderly, those groups who are most vulnerable and in need of help in today’s communities in the GTA.
In order to achieve this, SHAKTI has created specific programs, which each address a need for certain members of our larger village or community, as a means of support and most importantly, to assist those members to someday be able to “pay it forward” and help others who need it.
In addition to SHAKTI’s own programs, (First Day, Empower and Giving Back) we are also seek donations and assistance so that we may participate in other community outreach and fundraising organized by other community groups and corporations within Toronto. Some of these other programs include: donations and food to shelters, cleaning up parks and community spaces, children activities and creating volunteer opportunities for young people including young offenders.
